1-Cups from Rogers Coffee
I first heard of an alternative to Keurig K-Cups when the Sacramento news station reported that Keurig was suing a local company. Turns out it was Rogers Coffee based in Lincoln CA.Being the contrarian I am, I was quick to do some web searching and ordered a few boxes to support the local guys. A few days later the order arrived bearing a familiar logo seen on 10lb bags of beans in Costco. Local but not that little, maybe.
The boxes have 12 servings each, just like you know who. Inside the box was a sealed plastic bag with a valve. Not a cheap option but maybe necessary because the bottom of the pod is made of a porous heavy filter material. Which means that when you open the bag...
..it smells like coffee! For me that is really nice. I like the smell of coffee and you don't get that with k-cups.
There is nothing new or special about using the 1-cup. Goes in the same place in the same way.
So...how do they taste? In a word: great! They tend to be a little smoother, a little rounder, maybe some more floral notes. Understand that I am generalizing about the three flavors of San Francisco Bay versus every k-cup I've ever had. I'm not saying better or worse but I am saying they are good enough for you to try. The price is a bit less k-cups in the grocery store but more than at the big box store so not much risk here.

The ordering is not the most intuitive but you'll figure it out. I haven't seen these in stores
yet...but I don't get out much.
So to sum up...
PROS-
Excellent taste
This is an alternative. Always good,I say..
Smells like coffee...Ahhhh!
Local,sustainable,responsible...for selling something disposable but if you have a Keurig, you've already come to terms with all that.
